LASG SET TO ADDRESS DEMANDS OF JOINT DRIVERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA The Lagos State Government is looking into the demands of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN), with a view to finding permanent solutions to the issues raised by the Association. A release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, said the move became necessary following the planned seven-day job boycott by the drivers over alleged harassment and extortion by motor parks and garages management personnel across the state. He explained that sequel to the announcement by JDWAN to embark on a seven-day strike starting from 31st October, 2022, the State Government, through the Ministry of Transportation, had invited its leadership to a meeting on Friday, 28th October, 2022, despite its non-affiliation to any of the transport unions, such as NURTW and RTEAN, known to the State. Itsueli of Edo State High Court, Benin City, on Friday October 28, 2022 convicted and sentenced the duo of Monye Emeka Divine and Onyema Okuose to two years imprisonment each. El-Rufai Turns Lecturer On Governance, Economy  Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has taught the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship participants key concepts of governance and economy. For nine hours during the week, the governor held a workshop that took the Fellows through a discourse on McKinsey’s 7-S Framework, a powerful tool and model for Organizational Planning, Analysis, and Diagnosis. Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship (KIF) is a one-year non-partisan leadership training programme for young Nigerians between the age of 25-35 years. The one-year Fellowship aims to create a network of high-potential young Nigerians who are expected to rise to top leadership positions in the public and private sectors of the country. South East Governors To Start Joint Security Patrol In Major Highways Before December. South East Governors have concluded arrangements to commence joint twenty-four hour security patrol in all major highways in the zone before December first this year, as a way of beefing up the security network and restore normalcy in the area. This was contained in a communiqué issued by the South East Governors' Forum after their emergency meeting at Enugu state Government House. The meeting had in attendance five Governors in the zone, Governor of Ebonyi state, Engineer David Umahi, his Enugu counterpart, Right Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, that of Abia, Dr Okezie Ikoeazu, Anambra state Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, and that of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, represented by his Deputy, Professor Placid Njoku.
