A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times.
Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.
Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.
A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. If you do see him, do not approach, but rather call 911 immediately.
If you recognize the man in the photos or have any information regarding this incident, please call the Granite City Police Department at 1618-877-6111
There was a heavy police presence in Granite City in a different part of town tonight but that was due to a stolen truck that was not related to this case from what I understand.
