Afrobeats Icon Davido Claims Invincibility in Transparent Elections, Cites Corruption for Political Abstinence

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has boldly asserted that he would be unbeatable in any free and fair election held in Nigeria, including a presidential race. Despite this profound confidence in his popular appeal, the celebrated artist has ruled out venturing into politics for the foreseeable future, citing the deeply entrenched corruption within Nigeria's electoral system.

Davido's Unwavering Electoral Confidence

Speaking during a recent live stream with entertainer Cater Efe, Davido articulated his belief that his widespread popularity would translate into an overwhelming victory if elections were conducted with absolute transparency. "Nobody can beat me in any election, never! In a free and fair election, I can win presidential election in Nigeria," he declared, underscoring his conviction in his broad national support.

When questioned about his interest in governing a state, the 'Omo Baba Olowo' crooner's response was swift and unequivocal, expressing his disdain for the prevalent electoral malpractices. "Nigeria, wey dem dey write result? I no get time for all those ones. Because I no be all those ones wey you go cheat me, I go go sleep for house. I will do something to you If you cheat me," he stated, indicating his refusal to be a victim of electoral fraud.

Critique of Nigeria's Electoral System

Davido minced no words in his criticism of the current state of Nigerian elections, highlighting the systemic issues of a lack of transparency and the alleged manipulation of results. His stance stems from a deep-seated frustration with a system he perceives as fundamentally flawed and compromised.

Focus on Music Amidst Calls for Transparency

For now, the chart-topping artist has affirmed his commitment to his music career, vowing to remain focused on his craft until there is a tangible shift towards electoral integrity in Nigeria. He stated, "Let me just focus on my music until there is transparency then I can go ahead and contest for elective positions."

He also made a pointed reference to the upcoming Osun gubernatorial election, expressing a keen interest in its outcome. "I waiting to see what they will do in the upcoming Osun gubernatorial election. We are wailing," Davido remarked, signaling his ongoing concern and observation of the nation's political landscape.
