Troops of Sector 5 under Operation Peace Shield have rescued 10 kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition and ransom money in a successful operation in Kaduna State.
The rescue followed the abduction of several women from their farms in Ungwan Nungu, Sanga Local Government Area, on 29 November 2025. Security forces launched an immediate search-and-rescue mission to track the kidnappers.
According to military authorities, the breakthrough came at about 6:40 a.m. on 5 December 2025, when troops intercepted the kidnappers during an attempted ransom collection. The armed group reportedly came under heavy fire, forcing them to flee into the surrounding forest and abandon the hostages.
All 10 victims, including one adult male, three male children, three elderly women and three female children were rescued unharmed and have since been debriefed and reunited with their families.
The operation also led to the recovery of a fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition and ₦1.6 million identified as part of the ransom.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and dismantling criminal networks, pledging continued action to ensure communities across the country can live in safety.
