MARGARET SCHOOL: LASBCA CLEARS AIR ON WRONGFUL DETENTION, DEMOLITION  The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), saddled with the statutory responsibility of enforcing the Building Control Regulations, has cleared the air on the recent allegations made by St. Margaret School in some sections of the media regarding alleged wrongful detention of their members of staff and sealing/demolition of structures in their school.  LASBCA categorically refuted all the allegations made by St. Margaret  School, describing them as false baseless, unfounded and totally without merit. A statement issued over the weekend by LASBCA explained that St. Margaret's School along Ebute Road, Ikorodu was visited by officials of the Agency on the 27th of March, 2024 for a routine monitoring exercise at about 12:48 pm to ascertain whether the renovation works found to have been carried out in the school premises comply with the regulatory provisions of the law.  Cardoso sacks eight CBN directors, 32 others  The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has sacked another set of 40 staff mostly from the Development Finance Department (DFD), in furtherance of its ongoing restructuring. The deputy directors and assistant directors were more affected with 22 from the DFD and the remaining 18 from the Medicals and Procurement Services Department. Also affected were eight directors, 10 deputy directors, five assistant directors, two principal managers, and two senior managers. Considering the recent the number of affected staff, the total has now reached 67, in what appears to be a series by the Olayemi Cardoso-led Board of Governors. Remember that no fewer than 27 members of staff, most of them directors at the Central Bank of Nigeria, were affected by the first batch of dismissals.

 Emefiele arrives Lagos Court for Arraignment  The embattled former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has arrived at the Ikeja State High Court in Lagos for his arraignment over alleged abuse of office and allocation of billions of dollars. Emefiele, alongside his co-defendant, one Henry Isioma Omole, will be arraigned on fresh  26 counts  before Justice Rahman Oshodi this morning.

Youths burn hotel over alleged murder in Imo community Youths of Umulogho community in Obowo Local Government Area have burnt part of a hotel building over the alleged killing of a staff, Ebuka Nwaneri, for reportedly stealing a phone at the weekend belonging to a military personnel. The owner of the hotel, Ibe Obasi and phone owner, a military personnel, who came to the hotel to relax allegedly accused the staff of stealing the missing phone. A source from the community, who narrated the incident to The Nation, said the deceased was locked up in a generator house to make him confess to the crime. But the victim, according to the source, later died from the alleged torture. His corpse was reportedly thrown over the fence of the hotel to the adjoining bush by the suspects. But youths in the community later found the corpse on Saturday morning.
