 GENERAL HOSPITAL BADAGRY PARTNERS NDLEA SEME SPECIAL AREA COMMAND TO COMBAT DRUG ABUSE

The General Hospital Badagry has partnered with the NDLEA Seme Special Area Command to strengthen safety protocols on the dangers of drug abuse by individuals in society, preserve the future of all Nigerians and foster peaceful co-existence.   

The Medical Director/CEO of Badagry General Hospital, Dr. Oluseyi Adesola disclosed this during his familiarisation visit to the Area Commander, Commander of Narcotics, Njoku Rita Chinyere, in her office on Tuesday at the Seme border. 

Dr Adesola, who further expressed his readiness to partner with the NDLEA in safeguarding the health of the populace, commended the organisation for its integrity in combating drug abuse and assured the Commander of his continued support in the area of healthcare. 

"We're here to appreciate you for the excellent work that you're doing. What you're doing gives the country hope, and we wish to identify with you as a reputable organisation", he said. 

Responding, the Area Commander, Njoku Chinyere, thanked Dr. Adesola for the visit, noting that the collaboration would increase her institutional capacity to deliver the mandate of the federal government towards eradicating drug abuse among people in the country. 

She also solicited the support of the hospital to enable her organisation to embark on full-scale sensitisation and rehabilitation programmes across the Seme-Badagry Area to reduce criminality in the target communities. 

"We would require officers from your facility to join us to promote sensitisation on prevention of substance abuse ravaging our country", she stated, decrying the conditions of a woman who broke down, and eventually died as a result of her son's addiction to illicit drugs. 

The meeting also featured the presentation of a plaque by the NDLEA office to the Medical Director/CEO, and a reciprocal corporate gift by the hospital to the Commander of Narcotics. 

Also in attendance during the visit were the Director of Clinical Services & Training, Dr. Akinwunmi Akinyemi; Apex Nurse Mary Ajayi; and the Director of Admin. & Human Resources, Mr. Tajudeen Ogunbekun and others from the Badagry GH.
