 Peter Obi Demands Justice for 15-Year-Old Held Without Trial for Over Three Months Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, has called for justice in the case of 15-year-old Yusuf Alabi, who has been detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for over three months without trial. Alabi, who captured national attention in 2023 after standing boldly in front of Obi’s convoy during a campaign rally in Lagos—an image that went viral as a symbol of youthful hope—remains in custody despite his first court appearance in March. In a statement posted on his official X handle Tuesday night, Obi voiced alarm over the teenager’s prolonged detention and urged authorities to adhere to the rule of law. “I was made aware of the predicament of a young boy named Quadri Yusuf Alabi, who has been detained for over three months without trial, appeared in court for the first time in March, and still remains held in custody,” Obi wrote.
