 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. U S ambassadors fund calls for proposals




The U.S. Embassy has announced that it is currently accepting applications the 2022 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation. 


The Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, AFCP, Programme was established in two thousand and one by the U.S. Congress to preserve cultural heritage and demonstrate respect for other cultures.


In Nigeria, the aim is to preserve major ancient archaeological sites, historic buildings and monuments, and major museum collections that have historical or cultural significance to the cultural heritage of the country. 


Since inception of the AFCP, the U.S. has partnered with Nigerians on ten projects.  Some past AFCP projects include: the preservation of Islamic manuscripts at the National Archives; restoration of the Gobarau Minaret, Katsina; preservation of the Kansakali Gate, Kano; the conservation of pottery collections at the National Museum of Unity, Ibadan; and conservation of collections at the National Museum, Jos.

 

The award floor is ten thousand USDollars and ceiling five hundred thousand dollars. 


Eligible organizations are advised to submit proposals to PASAbujaGrants@State.gov. and the deadline for the submission of proposals is December five, twenty twenty one, at eleven fifty nine pm.
