 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Over 2000 Persons Displaced By Flood In Nsugbe Community Seek Help From Government.



It is no longer news that thousands of households , property and farm lands have been destroyed by this years flood disaster but more disheartening is the fact that some of those displaced by flood are on their own in make shift shelters they provided for themselves without help from anyone.

Such was the condition of over 2,000 persons living in  various bushes in Nsugbe , Anambra East council area who are facing range of challenges especially hunger and starvation.

Nsugbe is situated in an upland area of the state but one of the ten villages , Abba that make up the community situates very close to the Omabala river. 

Because of it topography and terrain people from Nsugbe and neighbouring communities like Anam, Umueri, Igbariam settle as farmers especially where they have farm lands.

This as usual they did their farming like other years but unfortunately, the flooding submerged their houses, property and farm lands.

Because of the flooding, they have now moved into bushes in upland parts of Abba village where they constructed made make shift shelters with nylon and dried grasses where they live for now.

When ABS visited the area, it was an ugly sight to behold as occupants both old and young, men and women and children numbering over two thousand, were scattered across various camps as they call the area, which include, Adachoma, Orient one ,two , three,  Utuku, Akwulunugwu, looking helpless.

Some of them Messrs Nnamdi Okoye, Onyeaka Okuo, Udegbune Udekwe and Sunday Chinwuba who spoke to the ABS said they are exposed to all kinds of wild animals that attack them at will, calling for assistance. 

Others: Chioma Nnalue and Ikechukwu Anago regretted that they are now left at the mercy of hunger since their farm produce mainly yam and cassava are under water while they would have no place to go back to when the flood recedes.

An indigene of the community, Engineer Chidi Obiudu said he was shocked at the level of devastation caused by the flood even as he lamented the hardship the displaced persons are passing through.
