 COURT RESTRAINS RESIDENT DOCTORS FROM EMBARKING ON STRIKE  The national industrial court Abuja division has restrained all members and agents of the national association of resident doctors from calling, directing, organizing, participating in, and embarking upon any form of industrial action.  Justice Emmanuel Danjuma Subilim gave the order in an interim injunction filed by the federal government through the office of the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice.  The court temporally barred members of the association from embarking on any form of strike, work stoppages, go-slows, picketing, or any other form of industrial protest or disruption. The association is equally restrained from taking steps preparatory to any form of industrial action from the 12th day of january, 2026. Judges and elected politicians to get 114% salary raise - RMAFC


The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has said that the salaries of politicians, judicial and public office holders will be increased by 114 percent.


This was disclosed by RMAFC chairman, Muhammad Shehu, who was represented by Rakiya Tanko-Ayuba, a federal commissioner, during the presentation of reviewed remuneration package report to  Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state. 


Shehu who said the move is in accordance with the provision of paragraph 32(d) of part 1 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 constitution of the federal government (as amended), urged the house of assembly to move quickly on the amendment of relevant laws to pave way for upward review of income packages for political, judicial and public officers. He noted that the last remuneration review was conducted in 2007. 


Shehu also said the salaries were reviewed in line with rules of equity and fairness, risk and responsibilities, national order of precedence among others.


The RMAFC Chairman said; 


“It empowers the revenue mobilisation, allocation and fiscal commission to determine the remuneration appropriate for political office holders, including the president, vice-president, governors, deputy governors, ministers, commissioners, special advisers, legislators and the holders of the offices mentioned in sections 84 and 124 of the constitution of the federal government.


“Sixteen years after the last review, it is imperative that the remuneration packages for the categories of the office holders mentioned in relevant sections of the 1999 constitution (as amended) should be reviewed.


“Pursuant to the above, your excellency may please recall that on Wednesday, 1st February, 2023, the commission held a one-day zonal public hearing on the review of the remuneration package simultaneously in all the six (6) geo-political zones of the country.


“The aim of the exercise was to harvest inputs/ideas from a broad spectrum of stakeholders.”

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
