Kidnappers Freed Us First: Teacher Reveals Dramatic Twist in Oyo Abduction Saga, Contradicting Presidency’s “Rescue” Claim In a startling revelation that challenges the official narrative, one of the teachers held captive for 56 days by kidnappers in Oyo State has claimed that he and fellow hostages were released by their abductors *before* security operatives arrived to escort them to safety. Zacchaeus Olatunde, a teacher among the victims abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area, made the disclosure during a telephone interview with Nigeria Info FM on Friday.  706 Ballot Boxes Destroyed in Fire at INEC Office in Delta

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed a fire incident at its office in Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, INEC reported that the fire destroyed approximately 706 ballot boxes, 50 election bags, 322 apron vests, and various other items.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Delta State, Mr. Etekamba Udo Umoren, confirmed the incident, explaining that it occurred on Monday afternoon due to a power surge following the restoration of public electricity supply.

The fire completely razed the section of the store where petrol generators and other materials were stored. In addition to the ballot boxes and election bags, the fire also destroyed three electric generators, 140 stamps, 50 ballot box seals, and various items such as envelopes, posters, forms, and booklets.

Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. The incident has been reported to security agencies and emergency services for a thorough investigation. INEC expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force and the Delta State Fire Service for their prompt response.
