NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  MAN CRIES OUT, ALLEGES BETRAYAL AS MARRIAGE COLLAPSES, SPARKS ONLINE WAR OF WORDS IN BENUE

30th January, 2026

A domestic dispute has drawn public attention after a man, Mr. Alexis Yachiga, accused a fellow community member, Mr. Ternenge Laha, of allegedly interfering in his marriage, a development he claims led to the collapse of his home.

In an emotional statement shared on social media, Yachiga alleged that Laha used financial influence to persuade his former wife to abandon the marriage. He described the incident as a painful betrayal, noting that both men are from the same village and had previously shared mutual respect.

The aggrieved husband said he had never had any conflict with Laha prior to the incident, expressing disappointment over what he termed an act of moral failure. He also made claims regarding Laha’s personal relationships, though these allegations could not be independently verified.

Addressing his former wife, Yachiga said her decision to leave marked a total separation from his family life. He appealed to her to refrain from posting images of their child on social media, insisting that her actions had consequences for their shared responsibilities.

The allegations have sparked mixed reactions online, with some users condemning the alleged interference, while others urged restraint and called for the matter to be handled privately or through lawful channels.

As of the time of this report, Mr. Ternenge Laha has not responded to the allegations. There is also no confirmation that the matter has been reported to law enforcement authorities.

The development has once again highlighted how personal disputes are increasingly finding expression in the public space, particularly on social media platforms.
