NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. Residents of Anambra community protest against alleged land grabber

Indigenes of Enugu-Agidi community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State have protested against the activities of an alleged land grabber.

The protesters, who stormed the Anambra State Police Command at the weekend, said portions of their land have been illegally acquired by one Jeff Nweke, who they described as the owner of Blue Shield Security Company, a private security outfit.

Pleading with police authorities in Anambra for intervention, the protesters said Nweke has forcefully taken their land with the help of his gun toting security operatives. They also alleged that the operatives also molest their women at will.

The leader of the protesters, an elder statesman, Chief Peter Omekunsi, while addressing the State Police Command on their grouse, said: “As I speak to you, Ozo Nweke has forcefully collected so many people’s land across neighboring communities of Enugu-Agidi and Nibo respectively.

“He is not from our community, he is from Awka, which is our neighbour. We are from Ifite, Achalla, Igbolo and Imoloieli villages all in Enugwu-Agidi community. We want the State Police Commissioner, CP Adeoye Aderemi to help us.”

The protesters, including aged men and women, youths and children, wielded placards displaying their grievances against Nweke.

When newmen contacted Nweke on the phone, he admitted that he was aware of the protest. He pleaded that he was in a meeting in Abuja and would call back shortly.

He said: “Don’t bother calling back, I will call you. I’m in a meeting now in someone’s office in Abuja, so I can’t speak with you.”

Though the conversation was on Friday, he did not call back as of the time of filing this report. Several calls to his phone on Saturday were ignored.
