 PRESS RELEASE OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS MASS ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT FGGC MONGUNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, at about 0130 hours (1:30 a.m.) on 19 July 2026. The FGGC facility is currently being utilized by the Borno State Government as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The terrorists reportedly gained access to the facility with the assistance of suspected collaborators in an attempt to abduct students. Alert security personnel immediately engaged the terrorists with coordinated and overwhelming firepower, effectively stalling their advance with Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reinforcing the school.  SENATE PRESIDENT AKPABIO, LAWMAKERS LAUGH AS HE ANNOUNCES SENATOR NATASHA’S BIRTHDAY


There was mild drama at the Senate plenary as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and several lawmakers burst into laughter while he announced the birthday of his colleague, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.


The incident occurred during Tuesday’s session when Senator Akpabio formally notified the chamber that December 9 marked his birthday as well as that of Senator Natasha. In line with the Senate tradition, the President of the Senate is required to announce lawmakers’ birthdays so colleagues can offer congratulatory messages.


However, the atmosphere changed the moment he mentioned Senator Natasha’s name. Akpabio and several senators erupted in laughter, drawing the attention of observers given the well-known political tension between both lawmakers.


Senator Akpabio and Senator Natasha have been at loggerheads for months over political and legal disputes, with matters currently before the court. The unexpected laughter, therefore, added a dramatic twist to an otherwise formal announcement.


Despite the tension, the Senate proceeded with its routine acknowledgment of the birthdays, though the brief moment of amusement underscored the strained relationship between the two senators.
