 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail.  SENATE PRESIDENT AKPABIO, LAWMAKERS LAUGH AS HE ANNOUNCES SENATOR NATASHA’S BIRTHDAY


There was mild drama at the Senate plenary as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and several lawmakers burst into laughter while he announced the birthday of his colleague, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.


The incident occurred during Tuesday’s session when Senator Akpabio formally notified the chamber that December 9 marked his birthday as well as that of Senator Natasha. In line with the Senate tradition, the President of the Senate is required to announce lawmakers’ birthdays so colleagues can offer congratulatory messages.


However, the atmosphere changed the moment he mentioned Senator Natasha’s name. Akpabio and several senators erupted in laughter, drawing the attention of observers given the well-known political tension between both lawmakers.


Senator Akpabio and Senator Natasha have been at loggerheads for months over political and legal disputes, with matters currently before the court. The unexpected laughter, therefore, added a dramatic twist to an otherwise formal announcement.


Despite the tension, the Senate proceeded with its routine acknowledgment of the birthdays, though the brief moment of amusement underscored the strained relationship between the two senators.
