 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail. INDIA ASSAM CHIEF MINISTER HIMANTA BISWA SARMA HAS EXPRESSED HIS DESIRE TO BRING INTERNATIONAL POP SENSATION SHAKIRA TO GUWAHATI FOR A CONCERT IN THE COMING YEARS.(PHOTO).

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his desire to bring international pop sensation Shakira to Guwahati for a concert in the coming years. Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said that the state had an opportunity to host the global superstar in February, but the plan could not move forward due to certain circumstances.


CM Sarma stated that he hopes to make the concert possible either next year or sometime within the next two years, highlighting the state’s growing ambition to host world-class entertainment events. He added that the government is not limiting these efforts to Guwahati alone.


The Chief Minister shared that he also envisions inviting global performers to other major Assam cities such as Dibrugarh and Silchar in the future. The move, he said, would further boost the cultural landscape and tourism potential of the state, giving Assam a place on the global entertainment map.
