The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has disbursed #20 million to 20 Disability groups to support advocacy and awareness campaigns ahead of the 2026 International Disability Day celebration.

Speaking during the presentation held recently at the Alausa Secretariat, the General Manager, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s continued commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities.

In her words, “Today, each beneficiary group will receive one million naira to strengthen advocacy efforts and improve awareness of disability-related issues across the state.”

Beneficiaries of the support include the Lupus Foundation, the Dwarf Group, the Hearing-Impaired Cluster for the Deaf, and the Spinal Cord Injury Association Lagos, among others.

She urged the groups to ensure that the funds are properly utilised for programmes that will directly benefit their members and advance disability inclusion.

The LASODA boss also reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to expanding opportunities for persons with disabilities in line with its broader social protection and inclusion agenda.

The beneficiary groups commended the Lagos State Government and LASODA for the support, noting that the intervention would enhance their welfare programmes and strengthen outreach efforts within their communities.
