BETTY IRABOR ANNOUNCED THE DEATH OF HER MOTHER. (PHOTO).
Dorrie Reyes was enjoying a mid-day walk around her Stockton, California neighborhood on April 23rd, when she noticed around 7 to 9 stray dogs approaching her.
As they approached, Dorrie pulled out her phone and began recording the pack, which included a German Shepard and several mixed breeds.
Dorrie didn't realize she would soon be fighting for her life. As she filmed the dogs, they closed the distance and began to attack her.
In a matter of seconds, Dorrie was on the ground, attempting to fend off the pack of dogs. Thankfully, a nearby couple heard Dorrie's cries for help. The couple were able to chase away the dogs and get Dorrie to safety.
However, that brief encounter with the stray dogs left Dorrie with between 150 to 200 lacerations and punctures all over her body. She also lost a substantial amount of blood as a result of the attack.
Dorrie was ultimately hospitalized and is recovering in the hospital.
In the days following the attack, the Stockton PD announced to the community that three of the dogs had been captured. They reassured the public that they were continuing to search for the other involved dogs.
The Stockton deputy mayor reminded the public that pet overpopulation and roaming doesn't happen without a lack of responsible ownership.
Our thoughts are with Dorrie Reyes as she recovers. We hope she has a full recovery.
