SPEAKER ABBAS TASKS PBAT DOOR-TO-DOOR MOVEMENT ON ISSUE-BASE CAMPAIGN  Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has called on the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to base its campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid on verifiable achievements and facts. He stated this when he hosted the National Coordinator of the movement, Sunday Asuku, and his delegation at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. The Speaker urged the group to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda directly to Nigerians across the 36 states and the FCT, emphasising that the administration’s performance over the last three years speaks for itself. He also said the National Assembly remains committed to supporting policies that deliver tangible benefits to citizens and amplifying the gains recorded since 2023.  NSA RIBADU LEADS NIGERIA SECURITY/ GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS IN  NIGERIA-US SECURITY TALKS IN WASHINGTON The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu leads Nigeria senior security and government officials to participate in a high level United States-Nigeria Joint Working Group meeting in Washington, D.C.  The high-level talks focus on strengthening counterterrorism cooperation, reviewing progress and identifying new areas for deeper security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States.  A mother of three just trying to make extra money delivering for Door Dash suffered a vicious attack during a delivery... for honking.  Christen Phillips was out attempting to provide for herself and her three children on the evening of August 1st when she fell victim to a horrific attack.  While making a delivery in a Jacksonville, North Carolina neighborhood, Christen arrived at an intersection behind a vehicle being driven by 44-year-old Stanley Shockley. For an unknown reason, Stanley was not pulling away. After Christen had patiently waited for what she considered to be an appropriate amount of time to not seem rude, she gave her horn a honk. This action would serve as the spark that would ignite a rage within Shockley. However, initially it seemed like the honk had simply snapped him back into the present.  He pulled away from the intersection, and Christen went along her way. The content creator took to his official Instagram page to share his ordeal, posting a video that captured the moment a group of men blocked his vehicle. The individuals refused to grant him passage, aggressively demanding financial settlement before allowing him to proceed on his journey.  Ebola outbreak in DRC on track to eclipse 2014-2016 West Africa epidemic: WHO chief The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is "on track to eclipse" the 2014-2016 West Africa epidemic at its current pace, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said, Anadolu Agency reported. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a media briefing in Geneva that the outbreak is already the second-biggest Ebola epidemic on record and is spreading faster than any previous outbreak. Officially, 4,449 confirmed cases and 2,061 deaths have been reported in five provinces and 53 health zones, he said. About 90% of cases and 80% of deaths are concentrated in Ituri province, with sustained transmission in Bunia, Rwampara, Nizi, and Lita. Treatment capacity Tedros said a high proportion of deaths are occurring in communities rather than treatment centres and outside known contact lists, indicating unidentified chains of transmission.
