The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni has reiterated the importance of positive work ethics in enhancing service delivery within the education sector.
He made this known during the One-Day Capacity Building Seminar for Non-Teaching Staff (NTS) on Grade Levels 01–06, held at the Immaculate Heart Comprehensive School Hall, Maryland. The seminar, themed “Improving Service Delivery Through Positive Work Ethics,” was organised to strengthen the capacity of non-teaching personnel and equip them with the knowledge, skills, and values required for effective service delivery.
In his address, Mr. Sanni emphasised that non-teaching staff play a vital role in the smooth administration and overall success of schools. According to him, their contributions complement classroom instruction and help create a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training by actively engaging in all sessions and applying the knowledge acquired to their daily responsibilities. He expressed confidence that the seminar would enhance productivity, improve workplace relationships, and foster a culture of excellence across schools and offices within the District.
The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary further reaffirmed the commitment of Education District II to continuous staff development and capacity building, stressing that investment in human capital remains critical to achieving the goals of the education sector.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Mojisola Adeyemi-Fashola, highlighted the significance of professionalism, accountability, integrity, teamwork, diligence, punctuality, and proper appearance in achieving excellence in service delivery and promoting efficiency within the public service. She noted that the seminar was timely and commended participants for their punctuality and commitment to learning and professional development.
Also speaking at the event, the State Chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Mr. Taiwo Abass, urged participants to take the seminar seriously and make the most of the opportunity to improve their performance and career growth.
The seminar featured seasoned facilitators, including Mr. Kunle Adegbesan, who delivered a session on Public Service Rules; Dr. (Mrs.) Olusola Adenekan, who spoke on Respect for Authority and Organisational Structure, and Mrs. Adéọlá Bankole, who addressed Professional Behaviour in Government Offices. Other sessions focused on professional ethics, dress code, personal development, and the need for a positive mindset change in the workplace.
