Kaduna Road Projects Boost Gov Sani’s 2027 Re-election Prospects — Official

The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba-Ahmed, has stated that ongoing road projects across the state are likely to strengthen Governor Uba Sani’s chances of winning re-election in 2027.

Governor Sani, who assumed office in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to seek a second term.

Speaking while hosting a youth group on Monday, Baba-Ahmed said the administration’s urban-rural renewal programme has significantly improved infrastructure and brought development closer to the people.

He revealed that over 140 road projects covering approximately 1,335 kilometres have been initiated within three years, an achievement he described as unprecedented in Kaduna State and the wider northern region.

According to him, more than 60 percent of these projects have already been completed, with the remainder set to be delivered before the end of the administration’s first term.

Baba-Ahmed noted that the projects are spread across all parts of the state, including rural areas that are experiencing government presence for the first time in decades.

He also highlighted the development of key road corridors across the three senatorial districts, explaining that these projects have improved mobility, boosted local trade, and reconnected previously isolated communities.

One major project he described as historic is the 35-kilometre Gadar Gayan–Gwaraji–Maraban Kujama road, which includes a 130-metre bridge over River Kaduna and serves 76 farming communities.

He noted that the project was completed within two years of Governor Sani taking office.

According to him, several local government areas had previously never seen the completion of even a one-kilometre road project, a situation he said the current administration has changed.

Baba-Ahmed added that public response to the projects has been overwhelmingly positive, expressing confidence that residents will show their support in the 2027 elections.

Some of the completed projects include the Magajiya–Amaru–Unguwan Liman Road, Audi–Kako Road, Tudun Biri Road, Durum–Kuruntumawa Road, Pambegua–Kauru Road, and the Madauchi–Madakiya–Kafanchan Road, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting youth group, Abdullahi Umar, convener of the KADA Agenda, commended KADRA for timely execution and quality delivery.

He expressed confidence that the administration’s performance would translate into electoral success in 2027.
