THUG AND THUGGERY: OPERATIVES ARREST TWO SUSPECTED THUGS, RESCUE 3 VICTIMS AND RECOVERED EXHIBITS IN BUNUNU
The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded another success in its ongoing clampdown on thuggery with the arrest of two suspects over criminal conspiracy, assault and thuggery in Bununu Town.
The incident occurred on 17th August, 2026, when a team of police operatives on routine patrol within Bununu Town sighted a group of hoodlums attacking three residents.
The victims were 30, 31 and 28-years-old males respectively, all of Bununu Town, sustained injuries to the head and other parts of their bodies.
Following the timely intervention of the Police patrol team, two of the attackers were arrested. They were identified as Ibrahim Hassan, male 23-years-old and Bilal Hassan, male, 22-years-old, both of Bununu Town also. The other members of the gang fled the scene.
In the course of the arrest, police operatives recovered one sharp knife and a sharp edged-animal horn (kaho) from the suspects.
On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. Meanwhile, the injured victims were immediately evacuated to the General Hospital, Bununu for treatment and are in stable condition.
The area has since returned to normalcy, while the Command has deployed additional personnel to sustain monitoring and forestall any breakdown of law and order.
CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+) has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter with a view to charging the suspects to court. He further warned that the Command will not condone any act of thuggery, hooliganism or violent conduct capable of threatening public peace.
In light of this, the Command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police formation.
