Zimbabwe ferry accident death toll rises to 92 The death toll in Zimbabwe's Lake Kariba Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) ferry accident rose to 92 after the recovery of eight more bodies on Monday. Police said two big boats, two small ones, more than 40 sub-aqua members and other resources had been deployed on the lake since August 11 to coordinate the rescue of victims, the search and the recovery of bodies. The accident occurred last Tuesday when the vessel carrying an estimated 153 people capsized due to strong winds on the world's largest man-made lake.

Revealed: 983 law students fail 2026 bar final resit exam as failure rate hits 50.3% A total of 983 candidates have failed the May 2026 bar final (resit) examination, representing 50.3 percent of the 1,955 candidates who sat for the examination. In a statement on Monday, Aderonke Osho, secretary to the council and director of administration, said the Council of Legal Education (CLE) approved the results at its third quarter hybrid meeting held on Thursday. BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE THUG AND THUGGERY: OPERATIVES ARREST TWO SUSPECTED THUGS, RESCUE 3 VICTIMS AND RECOVERED EXHIBITS IN BUNUNU The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded another success in its ongoing clampdown on thuggery with the arrest of two suspects over criminal conspiracy, assault and thuggery in Bununu Town. The incident occurred on 17th August, 2026, when a team of police operatives on routine patrol within Bununu Town sighted a group of hoodlums attacking three residents. The victims were 30, 31 and 28-years-old males respectively, all of Bununu Town, sustained injuries to the head and other parts of their bodies. Following the timely intervention of the Police patrol team, two of the attackers were arrested. They were identified as Ibrahim Hassan, male 23-years-old and Bilal Hassan, male, 22-years-old, both of Bununu Town also. The other members of the gang fled the scene.
