 Rita Daniels Loses AGN Presidency To Abubakar Yakubu Abubakar Yakubu has emerged as the new president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) after narrowly defeating Rita Daniels in a closely contested election. The poll was held on Saturday during the guild’s annual general meeting in Benin City, Edo State. Yakubu secured 116 votes to beat Daniels, who polled 113 votes, while three votes were declared invalid. The veteran actor and administrator takes over from Emeka Rollas. His victory is historic, as he becomes the first AGN president from northern Nigeria since the guild’s official registration in 1998. Yakubu previously served as national secretary from 2019 to 2025 and has also held other positions including national vice president, national treasurer, and public relations officer. A graduate of Dramatic Arts from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the Kaduna-born actor brings over 25 years of experience in television, film, and stage productions to his new role.       President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 assented to the following Bills:
1. Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy (Establishment) Bill, 2017. The college to be sited in Enugu, is to provide courses of instruction leading to the award of degrees, diplomas and certificates in dental technology, dental therapy and related courses.
2. Air Force Institute of Technology of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, 2017. The Institute to be situated in Kaduna, is to give technical training to the personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and other services of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigerians and citizens of other African countries.
3. National Intelligence Agency Pensions (Establishment) Bill, 2017, is to administer the pensions scheme for personnel of the Agency, sequel to the exit of the Agency from the application of the Contributory Pension's Scheme under the Pension's Reform Act, 2004.
