So Linus Williams (Blord) has been released from Kuje prison after fulfilling his bail conditions, finally, freedom after a few weeks in custody. However, here’s the current position of his case:  He is still expected to show up and stand his trial.  If he fails to appear in court even for one day, his bail can be revoked and a bench warrant may be issued against him, meaning a return to Kuje. If the prosecution cannot prove the charges against him, he will be discharged and acquitted. If the prosecution proves the charges, he may be sentenced and sent back to Kuje. I think he should seek a peaceful resolution to the case. Congrats to him on his freedom for now.

WORLD PHARMACIST DAY: RANDLE GENERAL HOSPITAL COUNSELS STUDENTS ON DRUG ABUSE.(PHOTOS).#PRESS RELEASE.

As part of activities marking the year 2022 World Pharmacist Day, Randle General Hospital, Surulere, organised a sensitisation programme on what the Day represents for students of Onitolo Senior and Junior Community High School, Surulere, to guide the learners appropriately on drug usage and the importance of the Pharmacy Profession.

The Head of the Pharmacy Department of the Hospital and leader of the sensitisation team, Pharmacist Olubunmi Talabi, while addressing the students during the enlightenment session, informed them that the World Pharmacist Day celebration is aimed at promoting and advocating the roles of pharmacists in improving health in all parts of the world.

She said that the theme for this year’s celebration: “Pharmacy United in Action for a Healthier World”, is a clarion call to all practising Pharmacists across the globe to unite in action for a healthier world.

Also addressing the students, Pharmacist Adenike Mayungbe, explained to the Students, the various branches of pharmacy and places where a qualified pharmacist can work.

Mayungbe added that the enlightenment session with the students was very important to guide them appropriately on their career path, especially some of the students that are interested in choosing pharmacy as a career so that they can know the right subject combination and years of study, among others.

Pharm. Uche Nwayalani, who lectured the students on “Drug Misuse and Drug Abuse”, explained the differences between the two for them and encouraged the students never to engage in drug abuse.

The students were also exposed to ‘Hand Hygiene’ with a practical demonstration of appropriate ways of washing one’s hands by Pharmacist Adewunmi Ogunbowale and the need for the students to cultivate a healthy lifestyle.

In his response, the representative of the Principal of the School, Mr. Stephen Owolabi, appreciated the team of Pharmacists from Randle General Hospital, Surulere and thanked them for the educative lectures delivered.

The high point of the advocacy was the distribution of Hand-Washing Liquid prepared by the Pharmacy team of the Hospital to students and staff of the School.

Similarly, as part of the activities marking the Pharmacist Day celebrations, a lecture on ‘Medication Safety’ was also delivered to members of staff of Randle General Hospital.

In the lecture, Pharmacists Abiola Anifalaje and Mariam Alli outlined the importance of medication safety and how it affects patients and healthcare practitioners. Health Talks were also delivered to patients at Randle and MCC, Gbaja on Medication Safety.
