 Unknown individuals looted palliatives at our Owerri rally – City Boy Movement An empowerment programme organised by the City Boy Movement, a support group for President Bola Tinubu, descended into disorder on Saturday when a large crowd surged forward and looted items intended for distribution to beneficiaries across Nigeria's South-East region. The event, held at Heroes Square in Owerri, marked the official launch of the Renewed Hope National Tour and the City Boy Movement South-East Youth Tour and Empowerment Programme on March 14, 2026. It aimed to provide support to young people, market traders, and vulnerable individuals from Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu states. WORLD PHARMACIST DAY: RANDLE GENERAL HOSPITAL COUNSELS STUDENTS ON DRUG ABUSE.(PHOTOS).#PRESS RELEASE.



As part of activities marking the year 2022 World Pharmacist Day, Randle General Hospital, Surulere, organised a sensitisation programme on what the Day represents for students of Onitolo Senior and Junior Community High School, Surulere, to guide the learners appropriately on drug usage and the importance of the Pharmacy Profession. 


The Head of the Pharmacy Department of the Hospital and leader of the sensitisation team, Pharmacist Olubunmi Talabi, while addressing the students during the enlightenment session, informed them that the World Pharmacist Day celebration is aimed at promoting and advocating the roles of pharmacists in improving health in all parts of the world. 

She said that the theme for this year’s celebration: “Pharmacy United in Action for a Healthier World”, is a clarion call to all practising Pharmacists across the globe to unite in action for a healthier world. 


Also addressing the students, Pharmacist Adenike Mayungbe, explained to the Students, the various branches of pharmacy and places where a qualified pharmacist can work. 


Mayungbe added that the enlightenment session with the students was very important to guide them appropriately on their career path, especially some of the students that are interested in choosing pharmacy as a career so that they can know the right subject combination and years of study, among others. 

Pharm. Uche Nwayalani, who lectured the students on “Drug Misuse and Drug Abuse”, explained the differences between the two for them and encouraged the students never to engage in drug abuse. 


The students were also exposed to ‘Hand Hygiene’ with a practical demonstration of appropriate ways of washing one’s hands by Pharmacist Adewunmi Ogunbowale and the need for the students to cultivate a healthy lifestyle. 


In his response, the representative of the Principal of the School, Mr. Stephen Owolabi, appreciated the team of Pharmacists from Randle General Hospital, Surulere and thanked them for the educative lectures delivered.

The high point of the advocacy was the distribution of Hand-Washing Liquid prepared by the Pharmacy team of the Hospital to students and staff of the School.



Similarly, as part of the activities marking the Pharmacist Day celebrations, a lecture on ‘Medication Safety’ was also delivered to members of staff of Randle General Hospital. 


In the lecture, Pharmacists Abiola Anifalaje and Mariam Alli outlined the importance of medication safety and how it affects patients and healthcare practitioners. Health Talks were also delivered to patients at Randle and MCC, Gbaja on Medication Safety.
