 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence.  Borno Proposes ₦584.76 Billion Budget for 2025


Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has presented a ₦584.76 billion budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year, aimed at building on the state's developmental progress. Titled the "Budget of Recovery and Continuity," the plan focuses on key sectors such as health, education, and economic recovery, while also prioritizing investments in security, infrastructure, and social services.


According to a statement from the Governor's media adviser, Dauda Iliya, the budget includes ₦380.84 billion for capital expenditure and ₦203.92 billion for recurrent expenditure. The budget will be funded through ₦311.70 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), ₦30.09 billion in internally generated revenue (IGR), and ₦237.96 billion in capital receipts, which include grants and aid.


Governor Zulum highlighted that the health sector would receive ₦89.97 billion, representing 15.39% of the total budget. He reiterated his commitment to strengthening recovery and resilience in the state, ensuring a stable future for its citizens.


In a related development, Borno State House of Assembly Speaker, Abdulkarim Lawan, noted that the House had passed 12 new laws to enhance governance and positively impact the lives of the people. He also praised Governor Zulum's efforts in resettling victims of Boko Haram insurgency, emphasizing the strong cooperation between the legislature and the executive.
