Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes handed six-month driving ban Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been handed a six month driving ban after he racked up two convictions in the space of two days. The 51-year-old was caught speeding in a Range Rover in March while on a late-night drive through Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire. West Yorkshire Police brought a prosecution over the incident, as Scholes’ car had been clocked at 37mph on a 30mph stretch of residential road. The ex-England star was also taken to task by Greater Manchester Police after a Mercedes registered in his name was caught driving at 49mph in a 30mph zone in November last year.  PDP NCWC Inspects Proposed Venue for 2026 National Convention

National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has conducted an inspection of the proposed venue for the party’s upcoming National Convention scheduled to hold from March 29 to March 30, 2026.

The committee inspected the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, which has been proposed as the official venue for the highly anticipated convention.

The inspection exercise was aimed at assessing the readiness, suitability, and logistical capacity of the facility ahead of the convention, which is expected to attract party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, and observers from across the country.

Members of the committee carefully reviewed key facilities at the venue, including seating arrangements, security provisions, accessibility, accommodation options, and other necessary infrastructure required to ensure a smooth and successful convention.

During the inspection, the committee emphasized the importance of adequate preparation and coordination for the event, noting that the National Convention remains a critical gathering where major party decisions are taken and the future direction of the party is discussed.

The NCWC also interacted with relevant officials and local organizers to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place in line with the party’s standards. The committee expressed optimism that the Velodrome at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium provides a suitable environment for hosting a successful, peaceful, and well-organized convention.

The PDP National Convention, scheduled for March 29–30, 2026, is expected to bring together delegates from all states of the federation, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), party elders, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on important issues concerning the unity, growth, and progress of the party.
