Osun Police Confirm Davido Was Target in Violent Attack on Governor Adeleke's Convoy

Assault on Governor's Convoy in Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command has made a startling revelation regarding the recent security breach involving the convoy of Governor Ademola Adeleke. According to law enforcement officials, international Afrobeat sensation Davido was the primary target of the violent disruption that occurred in Osogbo, the state capital.

The incident unfolded shortly after Governor Adeleke received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). As the governor's motorcade, which also carried his children and the music star, made its way to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, a confrontation erupted between security details and armed individuals.

Cultists Linked to the Targeted Attack

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed that preliminary findings point to members of the notorious Eye Confraternity. The principal suspect has been identified as Adebayo Taoreed, widely known as 'Small Rugged.' Taoreed, an ex-convict with a reputation as a violent thug, reportedly attempted to bypass security forces to gain direct access to Davido.

When the singer's private security team repelled Taoreed's attempts, a hostile crowd of suspected gang members quickly mobilized. The armed group temporarily barricaded the palace entrance, leading to a chaotic gun duel as the governor's security details fought to clear a path for the convoy.

Fatal Fallout and Police Investigation

While the governor and his high-profile entourage escaped unharmed, the violence tragically claimed the life of an innocent bystander. Fleeing gang members reportedly opened fire at the nearby Itaolokan area of Osogbo, hitting 60-year-old Tajudeen Yusuf.

Yusuf was discovered by a mobilized police patrol team lying in a pool of blood. Despite being rushed immediately to the University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Osun State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation to track down 'Small Rugged' and his accomplices. Authorities have assured the public that they are sparing no effort to bring the perpetrators of this brazen attack to justice.
