In his keynote address, the IGP described the annual conference as “a strategic national engagement and a critical platform for strengthening police-public communication, shaping national narratives constructively, and deepening trust between the Police and citizens.” He emphasised that modern-day policing is increasingly defined by public trust, transparency, and the quality of communication between law enforcement agencies and the public, noting that the Public Relations Officers remain central to institutional credibility. According to a national paper,a member of a five man gang of kidnappers,including a lady,lure men through a popular online dating website known as Badoo to a lonely spot where they are attacked and robbed of their valuables while the unfortunate one will be strangled.The suspects are Michael Eneji,his brother Emmanuel Eneji,Chukwu Chibueze,Gift Princess and Lekia Emmaden Isaac,were apprehended by the Rivers State police command days after the family of one of their latest victim Shola Olaseinde was reported missing by his family.He was later found in a decomposing state in a bush,close to a deserted pipeline area at Eleme,Port Harcourt,River state.Few meters away,was also the decomposed body of another victim,who was later identified as Mr Progress Benin Disi,a staff of Shell Oil serving company whose family had also reported missing since,March 7,2014.At the police station,the leader of the gang,27 year old Michael Eneji a footballer confessed to the crime and said that his gang didn't know that the late Shola Olaseinde would not be able to escape from the forest after dispossessing him of his valuables.
