 HARDSHIP: REP UGBOR FAULTS BENUE UNIVERSITY'S PROPOSED TUITION FEE HIKE 7th April, 2025      House of Representatives member for Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Terseer Ugbor, has called for a thorough overhaul of the Benue State’s higher education system, citing concerns over the proposed tuition fee hike at Benue State University, BSU, and observed that the proposed increment is capable of igniting students’ protest. Ugbor, former chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee on Student Loans and Access to Higher Education, who was reacting to the proposed tuition fees at the Benue State University, in a statement by his media aide, Fred Dagu, at the weekend in Makurdi, emphasized the need for reforms to alleviate the financial burden on disadvantaged students. 9 UNITED NATION PEACE SOLDIERS,WAS KILLED IN AN AMBUSH TODAY IN MALI.

             According to the United Nation  spokesman for the mission Olivier Salgado said nine United Nations peacekeepers in Mali were killed in an ambush on their convoy today friday.The peacekeepers who were from Niger,came under attack from unidentified,heavily armed gunmen on motor bikes between the north eastern towns of Menaka and Ansongo.According to Arnaud Akodjenou,Deputy Head of the U.N mission,known as MINUSMA,said ''I am horrified by this cowardly act of terrorism......Once again lives have been lost today in the name of peace in Mali''.U.N peacekeepers have deployed across Mali's north in an effort to secure the vast desert zone that was occupied by a mix of Al-Qaeda linked Islamist in 2012 untill the insurgents were scattered by French forces last year.One more picture below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
