 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 3 ILLEGAL PETROLEUM DEALERS IN EFCC CUSTODY. {PHOTOS}.

     The Uyo Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday April 10, 2018, took over three suspects and a Dangote truck conveying illegaly refined petroleum product suspected to be crude oil.
They were arrested by men of the 2nd Brigade, Nigerian Army, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. The suspects who were arrested at Abak Road checkpoint include Ibrahim Usman, Suleiman Mohammed and Suleiman Adams. They were arrested during a routine check, where it was discovered that rather than convey cement, the arrested Dangote Truck with Kano State registration number, KNC 145 XA, was conveying illegally refined petroleum product concealed in huge cellophane bags numbering about 190, one hundred and ninety. At the time of their arrest, the trio could not produce any licence that authorised them to deal in petroleum product, neither was there a waybill to cover the conveyance of the said product. The Commission has commenced further investigation into the matter and they would be arraigned as soon as investigation is concluded.More photos below.
