 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Biden Mourns 15 Killed In Prague University, Says Shooting Senseless


The United States president, Joe Biden, and the US government have condemned the unprecedented attack at the Prague University that left at least 15 people dead and a dozen injured on Thursday. 


Biden, in a tweet shared on his official X handle (formerly Twitter), sent his condolences to the families of those affected, calling it a senseless shooting. 


Biden stated that the US authorities were in touch with Czech law enforcement, and the United States government was willing to offer additional support if needed. 


According to multiple sources, the 24-year-old Czech student (name withheld) allegedly shot dead his father before going further to kill 14 others and injure 25 people. 


The tweet read, "My heart is with those who lost their lives in the senseless shooting in Prague, those injured, and the Czech people. 


"Our authorities are in touch with Czech law enforcement, and we stand ready to offer additional support if needed." 


However, the Czech government has declared a day of mourning across the central European country for December 23 to remember the victims.
