Leaders Enjoined to Remain Focus Amid Criticism, Back Stabbing, Betrayal of Trust

The Parish Priest, St Paul's Catholic Church, Akpo, Rev. Fr.  Cyriacus Ubah has called on leaders to remain focused amid criticism, back stabbing and betrayal of trust.

"These ills must come, if managed properly, they become vehicle that drives one to his destiny, if mismanaged, it becomes distraction.

"Jesus Christ Our Saviour came to the world doing good to humanity, healing the sick, uplifting the poor, paying tax to constituted authorities, among other good works. In return, they betrayed him and went as far as nailing him to the cross which drove him to his destiny of salvaging mankind from shackles and chains of sin."

He said this in a homily during Thank You Mass organized in honour of Philanthropist, Nze O. G Chuma, at his compound, Agbelu Village, Akpo, in Aguata LGA, on April 1.

The cleric said, "Nze O. G Chuma is a special gift from above to Ndi Akpo, Anambra, Nigeria and the globe at large.

"St Paul's Catholic Church is the largest Church Auditorium in Ekwulobia Diocese, Chuma roofed it all alone. If we had waited for second collection to doing it, the Church could have remained under construction up till today.

"Our Community Secondary School(CSS) Akpo, was a mockery of secondary school. CSS Akpo is of international standard today, CSS Nkpologwu is following suite, all at the expense of Nze O. G Chuma.

"He mobilized Umu Agbelu to stretching themselves so hard to putting up the only tarred road in Akpo. Chuma is indeed  an illustrious son to write home about."

However, the cleric expressed worries over his withdrawal of paying of school fees for all pupil of Monsignor Martin Okpalaibeañusi Memorial Nursery/Primary School, Akpo.

"Project of paying school fees for children of the school has been consistence for about 20 years but suddenly halted lately, along side with Justice, Development and Peace Commission monthly assistance."

Responding, Nze O. G Chuma thanked the Church for the visit and expressed gratitude to God for providing resources for his charity work across the globe.

"God of Providence is not tired of providing neither I am tired of serving humanity.

"What halted my project with the school and JDPC is improper accountability. It is not easy for me. I do not have well of resources at my backyard. I work hard for money. So, spending money, I want to know how."

He, then, urged Fr. Ubah to meet with Nze Gabriel/Elizabeth Obi Charity Foundation Accountant, Nze Dominic Ononamadu alongside with the Manager, Nze Titus Onyekesi.

The meeting should aim at working out modalities on how proper accountabilities could be achieved, promising to restore his assistance fully once proper accountability is assured.

Nze Chuma enjoined businessmen to prioritize proper book keeping as it is requisite to business success.

"Everybody should be on salary scale. Chief Executive (CEO), madam, sons and daughters to avoid sudden collapse of business."

The First Vice Chairman, Pastoral Council, Mr Donatus Okpalaojimmadu, thanked him for accepting to return his assistance to the Church and free business lecture given to business men.

He promised to work with the Church to bringing proper accountability.

The thank you visit of the Church to Nze Chuma featured gift of basket of chickens and other pleasantries.

It climaxed at lavish entertainment of food and drinks among neighbours, relatives, St Paul's Catholic leaders, among other calibres too numerous to mention.
