 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Daar Communications sacks Tosin Dokpesi, Ambrose Somide, Tony Akiotu, other directors

 

The management of Daar Communications has sacked its chairman's wife, Mrs. Tosin Dokpesi, the MD, Tony Akiotu, and nine other directors.


It was gathered that Daar Communications Plc, owners of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and RayPower, has asked directors who have spent 10 years and above in executive positions to go on retirement.


A source close to the company said that the retirement will take effect in November.


Among those affected are Tony Akiotu, Tosin Dokpesi, Ambrose Somide, Paulyn Ugbodaga and Tony Uyah.


“About 11 directors that have spent 10 years and above have been asked to go on retirement. One of them is Tosin Dokpesi who is the widow of our founder and chairman Chief Raymond Dokpesi,” a staff speaking under anonymity disclosed.


Recall that Daar Communications founder Raymond Dokpesi died on May 29, 2023. His son Raymond Dokpesi Jr has been chairman since 2019.


The company posted a loss of N1.6 billion for the year ended December 31, 2023.
