Police Arrest Fake Navy Officer for Fraud and Impersonation in Yobe The Yobe State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its fight against cybercrime and fraud with the arrest of a fake Navy personnel who specialized in defrauding the public. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the 29-year-old suspect, Agugu Joshua, was apprehended in possession of a counterfeit Nigerian Navy ID card. He used the fake identity to deceive victims, particularly POS vendors and store owners. Joshua’s method involved generating fake receipts through his Kuda Bank app, which appeared to confirm successful transactions, even though they were fraudulent. He would start by making a small, legitimate transaction to gain trust, then use the app to alter the receipt, delaying the alert to his victim.  Bandits abduct Kaduna village head, 14 others

Bandits have reportedly attacked and kidnapped the village head of Ungwan Babangida, and 14 others in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday night.

The youth leader of Dokan Karji, Aminu Khalid, confirmed the incident in a phone interview with City Round on Friday.

According to him, the attackers invaded Ungwan Babangida Village at midnight with sophisticated weapons shooting sporadically at vantage positions before whisking their victims away.

This incident came barely 48 hours after bandits had kidnapped four farmers in Libere community on Wednesday in the same Local Government Area.

“Amongst the victims kidnapped in Ungwan Babangida were three women, and nine men including the village head of the community, identified as Babangida Sojiji,” Khalid said.

He added that some of the victims were two labourers who came for farming activities from Jigawa State and Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“Kauru communities need serious military actions against these bandits who have occupied many villages and many breadwinners were gruesomely killed.

“Federal Government and security operatives must intensify effort to cripple the activities of these criminals who have made life difficult for villagers.”

He also commended vigilante groups for their constant approach to the banditry activities, saying they have foiled so many kidnapping attempts in some villages.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, refused to comment on the incidents as of the time this report was filed.
