ASUU-LASU Launches Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Salary Increase, Rejects Claims of Normalcy

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Lagos State University (LASU) has declared an indefinite strike starting December 6, 2024, in protest over the federal government's failure to implement the promised 25%/35% salary increase for its members. The union also criticized the salary disparity between LASU and other state universities. ASUU-LASU urged students to ignore claims of resumed normalcy made by the university management and the Students' Union, emphasizing that the strike is a staff welfare issue. The union also reiterated that the strike decision aligns with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of all staff unions.
