 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. It said compensatory plots had been allocated to the family and other families in Onitsha before the current administration.  LASG PRESENTS STAFF OF OFFICE TO NEW ONIȘẸ OF ISE KINGDOM


The Lagos State Government has presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to Prince Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, as His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, the Onise of Ise Kingdom in Lekki Local Government Area.


The presentation was performed on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, with the approval of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Executive Council, following the demise of the late Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan, Onise of Ise Kingdom.


Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Agbaje urged the new Monarch to make peace, unity and inclusive development the pillars of his reign, stressing the important role traditional institutions play in promoting harmony, stability and grassroots development.


He encouraged the new Onise to extend the hand of fellowship to all members of the Royal families and ensure that his reign becomes a period of reconciliation, cooperation, and collective progress for the people of Ise Kingdom.


Dr. Agbaje congratulated Oba Saliu on his ascension to the throne and expressed confidence that the Monarch would deploy his experience, wisdom, and position to advance the peace and prosperity of Ise Kingdom.


Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa welcomed the royal fathers and other dignitaries to the event. 


She expressed appreciation to the Governor for approving the presentation of the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the newly installed Monarch, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to strengthening the traditional institution and promoting grassroots development.


The presentation of the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment formally signified the commencement of the reign of Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu as the Onise of Ise Kingdom.


The event was attended by House of Assembly Members, representing Ibeju-Lekki 1, Oshodi-Isolo II, Badagry II, Honourables Fatai Mojeed, Ladi Ajomale and Setonji Samuel David, respectively, as well as the Special Adviser for Works, Dr. Adekunle Olayinka; former Special Adviser on Energy, Engr. Abiola Olowu; former APC Chairman, Lagos State, Hon. Henry Ajomale; Member GAC, Epe Division, Allhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki Bamu; Hon. Yahaya Dosumu, HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba Moruf Atanda Oyekunle Oluwa, Olu of Iwa & Apapa; HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba Waliu Rasaki Olasunkanmi, Onibeju of Ibeju; HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba Kolawole Abdul-Lateef Kolawole Olumegbon, Oba Olumegbon of Ajah & Okun Aja; HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba Ibrahim Lawal Olasunkanmi, Oba of Isheri Olofin; HRN Alaiyeluwa Oba Mufutau Olanrewaju Adekunmi Idogun-Laarrys, Oba of Ogunfayo; Chief Abdul-Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, Opeluwa of Lagos, members of the Royal families, community leaders, religious leaders, dignitaries and residents of Ise Kingdom, who gathered to witness the historic occasion and celebrate the new Monarch.
