 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. IN A MAJOR WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING CRACKDOWN, 11 TOKAY GECKOS WERE RESCUED BY AUTHORITIES IN DIBRUGARH, ASSAM, INDIA.(PHOTOS).


 In a major wildlife trafficking crackdown, 11 Tokay Geckos were rescued by authorities in Dibrugarh, Assam, India. 

The operation was carried out with the help of intelligence shared by the Wildlife Justice Commission South Asia and coordinated efforts from the Assam Forest Department and Dibrugarh Police. The geckos, which are often illegally traded due to false medicinal claims, are reportedly worth over ₹60 lakhs in the black market.


Three people involved in the trafficking have been arrested, and the vehicles used to transport the animals have been seized. Tokay Geckos are a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Act, and trading or keeping them is strictly illegal. Authorities are continuing the investigation to find out more about the wildlife trafficking network involved.


Officials confirmed that all 11 geckos are safe and will soon be released back into their natural habitat. They also reminded the public that capturing or trading wild animals is a serious crime and urged people to report any suspicious activity related to wildlife trafficking.
