Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry.  OAU Denies Arrest of Students Protesting Wike’s Visit, Says They Were Rescued from Mob

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has refuted claims that two students were arrested for protesting the presence of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, during his visit to the university. Wike was at OAU to deliver the Distinguished Personality Lecture titled “Nigeria of Our Dreams” at Oduduwa Hall on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

OAU’s spokesperson, Abiodun Olarewaju, clarified in a statement on Thursday that the two students were not arrested but were instead rescued from being attacked by fellow students. He emphasized that while everyone has the right to protest, a “microscopic minority” should not disrupt events supported by the majority.

According to Olarewaju, the situation arose when approximately 20 students confronted the two protesters, creating a risk of violence. “They were not arrested; they were only escorted out of Oduduwa Hall to prevent escalation,” he said. “Security operatives intervened to protect them from being beaten by their colleagues.”

The clarification follows reports alleging the arrest of the students for protesting Wike’s presence on campus.
