 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  YULETIDE SECURITY IN ANAMBRA: CP ORUTUGU REITERATES BAN ON BURNING OF TYRES AND USE OF ANY FORM OF SOCIAL EXPLOSIVES DURING CROSSOVER NIGHT CELEBRATIONS AND BEYOND 


The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD, has reiterated the Command’s ban on the burning of tyres and use of any form of social explosives across the State during the Yuletide season, especially during the crossover night celebrations and beyond.


The CP stated that the ban is aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property, maintaining public order, preventing damage and defacing government roads, environmental pollution/hazards, and security breaches that may arise from such activities.


He warned that the burning of tyres, fireworks, knockouts, firecrackers, or any other explosive devices poses serious risks to public safety and will not be tolerated under any guise. Parents and guardians are advised to caution their wards against engaging in such acts, as offenders will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.


The CP further assured Ndi Anambra that the Command, in synergy with other security agencies, has intensified patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led operations across the State to guarantee a peaceful and crime-free Yuletide celebration.


The Commissioner encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, as the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property and wishes Ndi Anambra a peaceful and joyous Yuletide celebration.
