Anambra State Ministry of Education Reinforces Governor's Directive on Full Monday Work Resumption for Workers

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu, has reiterated the Anambra State Government's firm stance on full compliance with Monday work resumption by all public servants, emphasizing that absenteeism on Mondays will no longer be tolerated.

This directive was conveyed during a meeting held with Heads of Departments in the Ministry. Dr. Agbaizu disclosed that His Excellency, the Governor of Anambra State, made this position clear and unequivocal during the recent Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the Governor's administration has resolved to enforce strict adherence to duty on Mondays across all sectors. To ensure compliance, attendance registers will be personally signed by staff and carefully monitored for any irregularities in signatures. The registers will further undergo thorough scrutiny by the Ministry of Finance prior to the processing and payment of salaries.

Dr. Agbaizu further explained that attendance on Mondays has been established as a key benchmark for salary payment. "As posited by Mr. Governor, salaries will henceforth be tied to actual presence and days worked," she stated.

The directive extends to schools as no school in the state is permitted to remain closed on Mondays. Principals, headteachers, and teachers are required to be fully present at their duty posts, she intoned.

Any violation will result in severe consequences, including forfeiture of salary for the affected period, as payments will now be calculated based on the number of days present.

The Ministry of Education calls on all staff, school administrators, and educators to align fully with this policy to support the state's ongoing efforts to promote discipline, productivity, and accountability in public service.

This measure underscores the Soludo administration's commitment to revitalizing governance and ensuring that public resources are utilized efficiently for the benefit of the Anambra people.
