Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Child Kidnapped From California Found Safe in North Carolina 6 Years After Disappearance

After nearly six years, the search for Karen Rojas has finally come to a hopeful conclusion. The 11-year-old, who vanished from Duarte, California, at age 5, was located safely in North Carolina on Tuesday, March 10, authorities confirmed.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Rojas had been enrolled in school under a different name, and once law enforcement verified her identity, she was taken into protective custody.

“With the information provided, deputies were able to determine that the child was enrolled in Washington County Schools under an alias,” the department wrote on social media.

“After working in combination with multiple agencies from NC to California, the child was taken into protective custody, and is SAFE!”

Rojas’ abduction occurred on June 2, 2020, sparking a relentless search that spanned states. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services collaborated with North Carolina law enforcement to track her down.

The sheriff’s office called the case’s resolution “rare,” noting that long-term kidnappings rarely end with such a positive outcome.

“But it reminds us that through hard work, dedication, and cooperation, stories with positive outcomes like these can happen,” the statement continued.

Authorities emphasized that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Rojas’ disappearance is ongoing.

Police have not disclosed details about the perpetrator, motives, or whether anyone has been charged, citing the child’s age and privacy concerns.

In response to the news, members of the public took to social media to praise law enforcement.

“Great job on all involved to bring this child home. Hopefully there was also an arrest made,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Prayers for the child. Bless her heart, she probably doesn’t know what to think right now. My heart hurts for her.”
