Royal author Christopher Andersen has suggested that Prince William and Prince Harry’s strained relationship began long before Meghan Markle entered the picture.
In a recent interview, Andersen explained that tension between the brothers dates back to childhood, recalling moments of rivalry and even physical wrestling.
He noted that Harry was often made to feel “lesser than,” which left a lasting mark and contributed to their fractured bond.
Harry himself detailed these feelings in his memoir Spare, where he described being given smaller, less luxurious accommodations compared to William and recalled his brother’s irritation over the creation of the Invictus Games.
Their relationship further deteriorated after Harry began dating Meghan, culminating in a physical altercation over negative press coverage.
Despite years of estrangement, Kate Middleton has reportedly tried to act as a peacemaker, including stepping aside at Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021 to give the brothers space to talk privately.
While reconciliation has not yet occurred, Andersen’s account highlights that the brothers’ issues are rooted in long-standing rivalry and unequal treatment, not solely Meghan’s arrival.
