Hayden Panettiere’s former neighbor says she saw firefighters take the actress from her Los Angeles apartment on a gurney twice during her troubled relationship with Brian Hickerson, and claims Panettiere appeared to have visible injuries.
Mia Terrazas, who still lives at the same West Hollywood complex, told Page Six that the incidents happened on July 29, 2023, and January 16, 2024. Evidence reviewed by the outlet appeared to corroborate the dates.
Terrazas said she noticed “bright red spots” and “bruises” on Panettiere during the incidents and claimed Hickerson was present both times, staying “glued to” the actress.
“It appeared that she had been beaten up. It wasn’t apparent to me that it could have been anything else,” Terrazas said, adding that Panettiere often appeared “battered.”
Her daughter, Vileena Koneru, who lived with her at the time, said she witnessed the incidents as well. During the 2023 incident, Terrazas said she asked Panettiere if she was OK while the actress was on the gurney.
“Yes,” Panettiere allegedly replied.
Terrazas and Koneru said they raised their concerns with firefighters who responded on both occasions. Representatives for Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 7 did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment, and the outlet said it could not confirm whether either incident was related to domestic violence.
Terrazas also claimed she regularly heard “muffled arguments” from Panettiere’s nearby apartment.
“You can tell somebody’s arguing just by the tonality. … It was very hostile,” she said.
She recalled another incident in which she allegedly heard Panettiere shouting at Hickerson inside an elevator.
“Just leave me alone! Just stop!” Terrazas recalled hearing the actress say. She said it was unclear what exactly had happened in the elevator.
Hickerson’s relationship with Panettiere had previously been marked by domestic violence allegations, arrests and criminal proceedings. In July 2020, Los Angeles prosecutors filed an eight-count case against him involving allegations including corporal injury, assault with a deadly weapon, battery and dissuading a witness.
He initially pleaded not guilty before pleading no contest in April 2021 to two felony counts of injuring a spouse or cohabitant. The remaining charges were dismissed.
Hickerson received a 45-day jail sentence, four years of probation, domestic violence classes and restitution. Panettiere was also granted a five-year protective order, which expired in April 2026.
Terrazas said she continued seeing Hickerson at the apartment complex while the protective order was active and contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department “quite a few times” to report him.
She claimed deputies “removed” him from the property at least once, but said she saw him back at the complex the following day.
Terrazas said she questioned how Hickerson could return despite the protective order and was allegedly told by the sheriff’s department that he and Panettiere continued getting back together despite efforts to keep them apart.
“I understood their point,” she said. “I just kept calling because I was hoping I would get a different answer.”
Representatives for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
