 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. WORLD ASTHMA DAY: THE DUCHESS OF GLOUCESTER SENT A MESSAGE TO ASTHMA UK AND OTHERS.{PHOTOS}.


    As COVID-19 affects the lungs and airways, it has become more important than ever for people with asthma to have access to the support they need.
On World Asthma Day and Charity Tuesday, The Duchess of Gloucester has sent a message to Asthma UK and others supporting people with asthma at this time.
“To everyone contributing to these efforts - whether it’s in person, over the telephone or virtually - I know you are under extraordinary pressure to keep people with asthma safe, and you are doing an extraordinary job. Thank you.”
HRH has been Patron of Asthma UK since 1975.
The Duchess also joined a call with Chief Executive Kay, services lead Helen and asthma nurse Caroline from Asthma UK yesterday, to hear more about their work at this busy time, which includes:
📞 A specialist asthma helpline, which saw eight times more calls than normal during March.
Advice on shielding, inhaler shortages and support for key workers with children in high-risk groups.
💻 Online health advice from in-house experts.
📕 A new, dedicated Post-COVID online hub and helpline, to specifically support people affected by breathing difficulties after contracting COVID-19.One more photo below.
