On 27 August 2026, troops of Sector 1 acted on information regarding the apprehension of a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State. The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to a video circulating on social media on a shooting incident in which a police officer allegedly shot at a motorist while on wheels, resulting in the death of the occupant. Preliminary information indicates that on 27th August 2026, there was an altercation between the occupant, one Anthony Obodo (m) and there was a scuffle between the duo which led to gunshot and subsequently led to the death of the victim, in which two other passersby where injured.   Following the incident, the alleged officer CPL Alfred Louis was attacked and assaulted by an angry mob, leading to him sustaining multiple injuries in the process. Ogazi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, for money laundering and fraudulent impersonation. Justin Sislo, 35, fatally shot his parents, Steve M. Sislo, 76, and Donna M. Walker-Sislo, 72, at their home on McCormick Road in the town of Madison on Aug. 7.  I barely get vulnerable here but I am pushed to express this time.. I figured there’s nothing really wrong with that. I’m human. For years, I’ve felt constantly misunderstood on this space. Somehow, everything I say or do gets turned into something completely different.. or maybe there’s unconsciously always a gap between my intent and my actions.🥺 Anyway this year, I rebranded and made a conscious decision to stay away from trouble, drama and unnecessary noise. I’ve genuinely done my best to stay out of the news, both good and bad, and just focus on my life, my films and my content. So being caught up in all that yesterday truly hurts. 💔 I take full accountability for everything including over trusting, once again.. it is what it is.  Nigerian Pro-Biafra Activist Simon Ekpa Appeals 6-Year Terrorism Sentence in Finland Nigerian pro-Biafra separatist campaigner Simon Ekpa has appealed his six-year prison sentence in Finland for terrorism-related offences. Finland’s national public broadcaster Yle reports that the appeal is now being heard by the Court of Appeal. BBC Pidgin says Finnish prosecutors have also filed their own appeal, seeking a longer jail term. They argue that six years is not enough for terrorism charges. Ekpa was sentenced in September 2025 after a Finnish court found that he used his large social media following to encourage violence in south-eastern Nigeria and supported separatist groups with weapons and ammunition. Ekpa campaigns for the creation of Biafra, a proposed independent state in south-eastern Nigeria.

The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed 430 medicine outlets across 10 Local Government Areas in Yobe State folowing a four-day enforcement exercise that uncovered widespread breaches of pharmaceutical regulations .  The sealed outlets include 300 unregistered or illegal medicine outlets, 20 pharmacies, and 110 patent medicine stores that were shut down for various regulatory breaches ,  The PCN's Head of Department, Enforcement, Suleiman Chiroma, revealed that 50% of the 601 premises inspected were operating illegally, posing a significant public health concern1.  World’s Youngest Reigning Monarch , King Oyo, Dies at 34 King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the traditional ruler of Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom who became the world’s youngest reigning monarch after ascending the throne at three, has died at the age of 34. The monarch reportedly died on Thursday, with the Prime Minister of the Tooro Kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, announcing his death on Friday. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed. However, Ugandan media reports quoted a government minister as saying that King Oyo had been critically ill and was receiving medical treatment in the United States. Reacting to the development, Akiiki described the monarch’s death as a major loss to the royal family and the people of Tooro.  KOGI POLICE COMMAND RESCUES 11 ABDUCTED VICTIMS ALONG ALOMA–EGANE  ROAD IN KOGI STATE  The Kogi State Police Command has rescued  eleven persons kidnapped along the Aloma–Egane road in Ofu Local Government Area on the 26 of August.  A statement by the Command's Public Relation Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat says, the incident occurred at about 4.40pm, when armed men from the bush around Ogene Zaria, near the Ogene Zaria/Onicha-Igo Junction, blocked two buses travelling in opposite directions and abducted some passengers, while others escaped into the surrounding bush. On receipt of a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Ofu, led a joint security team to the scene, where two abandoned vehicles were recovered. The state chairman of the party, Evangelist Mordecai Ibrahim, made this known on Wednesday during a press conference in Kaduna, stating that the dispute over the party’s governorship ticket remained unresolved. Ibrahim explained that the party would need to conduct a substitution primary to produce a recognised candidate following his withdrawal from the race.  DR Congo president gives M23 conditions to join national dialogue Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi says the participation of any armed group, such as M23 rebels, in a national dialogue remains impossible as long as the group continues to take up arms against the government. DR Congo, in central Africa, has been repeatedly hit by conflict in the mineral-rich east, in particular the resurgence of the M23 rebel group since 2021. Fighters have seized swathes of territory and the December peace deal has failed to end the fighting. Consultations would take up to three months, the president says, adding that the resulting document will be used as a basis for "national talks" and a "national pact" based on "peace, national unity and the higher interest of the republic".

Last unidentified Happy Face Killer victim identified more than 30 years after body was found  More than three decades after a young woman was found dead along a California highway, authorities have finally identified her as the last previously unidentified victim of serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson, known as the “Happy Face Killer.” The woman’s body was discovered Aug. 30, 1992, about seven miles north of Blythe in southeastern California along Highway 95. Investigators initially could not determine her identity and estimated she was between 20 and 30 years old. Jesperson later confessed to killing the woman, whom he called “Claudia,” saying he met her while working as a long-haul truck driver. He pleaded guilty to the Riverside County murder in 2010 and received a sentence of 25 years to life. Investigators continued working for years to identify Jesperson’s victims.
