 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LASPOTECH VISITATION PANEL SUBMITS REPORT,TO UNRAVEL THE LINGERING CRISES IN THE POLYTECHNIC.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Lagos State Polytechnic visitation panel set-up by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the lingering crises in the Polytechnic, on Thursday, submitted its report to the State Government, through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab.
Receiving the report from the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Wahab thanked the members for the timely submission, assuring them of the government's commitment to the implementation of recommendations of the investigating team.
He said, "The Government was worried about the crisis at the Institution and this report will help us find out the underlying causes of the crises, how to resolve them and prevent any future occurrence of similar problems".
Earlier while presenting the report, the Chairman of the Panel, Barr. Adelowo Afolayan, appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on behalf of other members of the Committee, for the opportunity given to them to work freely in finding solutions to the age-long crisis in the school without interference.
Recall the Visitation Panel was constituted in October 2019 by the State Government in accordance with the extant law of the Lagos State Polytechnic 2012, Section C111 (subsection 1-5).One more photo below.
