 Edo State Governor Clashes with PDP Over Support for President Tinubu Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has strongly criticized the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for misrepresenting his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor dismissed the PDP’s claims as “weak” and unfounded. The controversy arose after Okpebholo, while hosting 17 acting chairmen from Edo’s 18 local government areas who recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. He praised Tinubu’s leadership, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy, a move he said previous administrations avoided despite its potential to drive national development. PMF PERSONNEL SUCCESSFULLY REPEL AMBUSH ATTACK ON THEIR CONVOY IN BIRNIN-GWARI
​· Inflict heavy casualties on Tens of the Bandits as IGP Commends Officers for gallantry in repelling the attack
The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has commended the Police officers attached to Police Mobile Force - 9 PMF Squadron, Kano for displaying uncommon gallantry and repelling the attack on their convoy by bandits numbering about hundred along the Birnin Gwari - Funtua Highway on Friday, 15th January, 2021, on their way back to their base in Kano after the completion of their special duty.
The officers are personnel attached to Operation Puff Adder and deployed to Niger State in the sustained operation to reclaim the public space and tackle incidents of banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the area.
Contrary to unconfirmed reports in some sections of the media stating that eighteen (18) officers were kidnapped, only sixteen (16) officers were attacked in the ambush. The officers successfully repelled the attack accordingly and neutralized the bandits in their tens while many of the bandits scampered into the bush with gunshot injuries. Regrettably, four (4) of the Officers paid the supreme price during the exchange of gun fire between the Police and the bandits while an officer is still missing. However, the remaining eleven (11) officers led by their Unit Commander, successfully recovered the bodies and firearms of their fallen colleagues while concerted efforts are being intensified to rescue the officer still missing.
The IGP, while commiserating with the families of the officers who have yet again paid the supreme price in the service of our nation, assures that their death shall not be in vain.

The IGP assures the citizens that the Force is not deterred and will not relent in its commitment to delivering on its mandate and ensuring that all activities of bandits and other unscrupulous elements in the area and other parts of the country are brought to check.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
