The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has trained 100 ‘ILERA EKO’ Enrolment Agents and Local Government Officers as part of efforts to ensure that every resident enrolled on the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) has access to affordable and quality healthcare.
The General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, speaking at the commencement of the training organised for the newly appointed agents and officers at the State Treasury Office (STO) Resource Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, said the training became necessary to ensure success of the mission.
Dr. Zamba, represented at the event by the Head, Business Development and Marketing (LASHMA), Mr. Olatunji Rotimi, urged trainees to be hardworking, efficient and also see the enrolment of residents within their community on the scheme as a high priority.
She reminded them that the State Government would not relent in attaining its Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and solicited the cooperation of all and sundry to realise set goals and objectives, adding that this could only be achieved with the collective responsibility of everyone in the State.
Her words: "As the Agency responsible for the health insurance of the residents in the State, we have a mandate in accordance with the Law to ensure that all the residents in Lagos, irrespective of their economic, social and cultural differences, have a health insurance plan".
The General Manager appealed to the Officers to do their best and ensure that residents do not only enrol on the Scheme but live a healthy and more productive life in order to contribute to the development of Lagos State, in particular, and Nigeria as a whole.
Dr. Zamba said that with dedication of the new officers, the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) can change the face of the health insurance sub-sector in the country.
“LASHMA is determined to ensure that the Lagos State Government's dream of attaining Universal Health Coverage is achieved and that residents have access to qualitative, affordable, effective and efficient healthcare system”, she asserted.
