El-Rufai’s Family Protests SSS Detention, Alleges Torture, Medical Neglect Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has continued to face controversy over his detention, as members of his family and supporters staged a protest in Abuja on Monday over his custody by the State Security Service (SSS). The demonstrators, which included Senator Lawal Adamu and close relatives of the former governor, accused security authorities of subjecting him to psychological pressure and denying him access to medical care despite existing court directives. Speaking outside the SSS facility, El-Rufai’s second wife, Asia, said the family had been living under fear due to what she described as persistent surveillance and security intimidation connected to the case. SECURITY: LAGOS POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS 425 SUSPECTS IN NOVEMBER

As part of efforts to stem the tide of insecurity during yuletide, the Lagos Police Command has arrested about 425 suspected criminals for various crimes ranging from armed robbery, rape, impersonation and cultism, just as it also disclosed that 190 have been charged to court for prosecution.

The monthly Police Activity Report for November 2021, signed by State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem O. Odumosu, also revealed that the Command prevented several robbery incidents and recovered six arms, while 178 vehicles and 320 motorcycles were impounded for violating the State Traffic Laws across Lagos metropolis.

The report said that the Police, acting on intelligence gathered, were able to mobilise a crack team to dislodge some hoodlums suspected to be armed robbers at Safejo Area of Amukoko, leading to the arrest of two of the suspects and recovery of one toy gun.

The statement averred that upon receipt of a distress call reporting the case of a 14-year-old girl, who was allegedly defiled by a gang after being lured to a location by her friend, the Police immediately mobilised to the scene to rescue the victim but it was too late. However, the victim was taken to the hospital for examination and treatment while one of the suspects has been arrested.

Also contained in the report was the case of a clampdown on the activities of cultists operating in different parts of the State, particularly Agodo in Ikotun, Obalende, Ishashi and Bariga areas, where some gang members were arrested for breach of peace and disorderly conduct.

In the same vein, the Nigeria Customs handed over two suspects caught with two dry human skulls at Ganyinbo Sea Beach checkpoint, along Seme/Badagry, to the Command for further investigation and prosecution.

While imploring all residents to be security conscious, especially during the fast-approaching festive period, the Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the security of citizens in every part of Lagos metropolis.
