 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. FRSC Concludes 2022 Remembrance Day For Victims Of Road Crashes With Prayer Service



The Acting Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Dauda Biu has admonished all road users to desist from actions that are inimical to the safety of others. 

Mr Biu gave the admonishment during a prayer service in commemoration of the 2022 African Road Safety Day and World Day of Remembrance of Victims of Road Crashes in Amawbia.

The Theme for this year’s celebration is “Justice” with the slogan as “Remember, Support And Act” focusing on ensuring justice and succor for victims of road crashes and their families.

Mr Biu in an address read by the Sector Commander, FRSC Anambra State Command, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi revealed that the decision is to seek God’s mercies upon the souls of those that lost their lives and those that sustained injuries as a result of road traffic crashes in the state.

He pointed out that road traffic clashes is undoubtedly one of the greatest threats to humanity all over the world and particularly to the African continent as it claims lives and properties daily, leaving behind great sorrows and burdens to the victims and their loved ones.

For the State Coordinator,  Anambra State FRSC Special Marshals, Mr. Patrick Chukwudi, who explained that speed violation, wrongful overtaking and expired tires were major causes of road crashes during the period.

He insisted  that most crashes were avoidable if only motorists obey traffic rules and regulations, and prayed to God to console the families of those who lost their loved ones as a result of road traffic crashes.

Earlier, In a message titled "Pathway To God’s Power", Pastor Abraham Yakini said that God must be the priority in all that Christians do in order to attract the power of God. 

Standing on Isaiah 40:31, Pastor Yakini enjoined people of God to always live a lifestyle of fasting so as to break all impossibilities around them.

Prayers for the victims and families of the road crash victims and for officers of the FRSC and thanksgiving formed the highpoints of the remembrance service.
